Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting the new extension at Abbeyfield - Pilcher's Field in Crapstone and officially opening the new apartments as part of a double celebration marking 70 years of Abbeyfield England and 50 years of the Abbeyfield Buckland Monachorum Society.
It was great to have a chat with so many of the local volunteers, staff and residents who have helped make Pilcher's Field such an important part of village life over the years before being given a tour of the site and the new apartments.
The new development has added five apartments, taking the total number of homes on site to fifteen and helping meet demand for supported accommodation locally.
Thank you to Ken, Kerry and the whole of the Abbeyfield Buckland Monachorum Society for the work you do, to the residents for making me feel so welcome, and to Alan and Sarah from RM Builders and Contractors Ltd, who built the new extension.
Congratulations to everyone involved in reaching these milestones and for all they continue to do for older residents in our community.
