It was a real pleasure to welcome my constituents, Richard and Ed from Cattewater Harbour to Parliament earlier this week for Prime Minister’s Questions and lunch
We had a great conversation about the vital role Cattewater Harbour plays at the heart of Plymouth’s maritime economy. From managing commercial shipping to supporting leisure boating, the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners work hard to keep the port running safely, smoothly and sustainably - something that’s so important for Plymouth and the wider region.
I was glad to hear more about the fantastic work they are doing on the edge of South West Devon, supporting local jobs, protecting our coastline, and keeping Plymouth connected to global trade, alongside fishing, tourism and recreation on the water.
It was also brilliant to hear about their future plans and their commitment to both economic growth and environmental stewardship and I will continue to speak up for Plymouth’s maritime sector in Westminster.
Thank you Richard and Ed for visiting. I look forward to staying in touch!
