It was a real pleasure to welcome and host the winners of the The West Country Women Awards to Westminster today.
From supporting others and leading local projects to building businesses, volunteering and driving change, these women make an extraordinary contribution to communities across the South West. Many do this alongside family life and other responsibilities, often without recognition, which makes moments like today especially meaningful. With more than 2,000 nominations each year, being selected as a winner is no small achievement!
It was great to be joined by Alexis Bowater OBE and Baroness Sharon Davies of Devonport as well as other local MPs and Peers.
A special congratulations to my South West Devon constituents: Emma, who runs EM-MAgination Craft, winner of Small Business of the Year and Eloise, more well known as Mrs Murals, the winner in Arts, Media and Culture.
Also, well done to Plymouth residents Carrie-Ann, Layla, Claire, and Carrie and to all the other fantastic women recognised for their achievements - you truly make the West Country proud!
