Celebrating women and girls in sport at Plymouth Argyle
Last night was a fantastic celebration of women and girls in sport across Devon!
Even before the main event, it was great to see so many people of all ages getting involved in activities and watching live demonstrations from wrestlers, cheerleaders, boxers, volleyball players and more.
And then the main event…where over 5,000 fans turned out in the rain to watch Plymouth Argyle Women take on Exeter in the local derby - for free! From kick-off, the atmosphere was electric. It was fantastic to see so many families, girls and young women there supporting, cheering and being inspired.
Events like this show the real impact of investing in women’s sport - bringing communities together, creating visible role models and giving the next generation something to believe in.
And to top it all off - a 2–0 win for Argyle! A huge congratulations to the team at Plymouth Argyle Women FC and the Argyle Community Trust for putting on such a fantastic event.
