Today I challenged the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions on the reality facing young people trying to find work.
While Labour MPs focus on headline-friendly initiatives, youth unemployment has risen by over 100,000 since Labour came to power. Businesses are holding back from employing them, confidence is down and young people are paying the price.
Despite the Minister’s response, the overall UK unemployment rate is now at its highest in ten years, excluding the pandemic, showing the jobs crisis is growing, not shrinking.
Tinkering at the edges won’t fix this. What young people need is a strong economy and businesses that feel confident to hire, train and invest in their future.
Watch my question below and let me know your thoughts on the Minister’s response ![]()
