This weekend marks the beginning of the Great British Beach Clean!
I recently had the opportunity to join a fantastic group of volunteers for a beach clean at Mount Batten Beach, tackling the marine litter that continues to threaten our coastline.
This clean was part of Beachwatch, the Marine Conservation Society ’s national project that helps shape vital policy through real-world data.
Marine waste continues to pose a serious threat to wildlife, public spaces, and coastal economies. In Devon alone, an average of 103 items were found per 100m of beach last year, most of it single-use plastic.
Events like these are a great way to protect our beaches and I would encourage everyone to get involved in the Great British Beach Clean which runs until 28th September! You can find out more about how to get involved here:
