Help safely reopen Mount Batten. Sign my petition.
It was good to join over 140 people at the public meeting yesterday in response to the closure of Mount Batten Beach.
Whilst it was encouraging to hear that Plymouth City Council’s Public Health team is putting additional resources into this work, the next step is securing the specialist expertise needed to identify the source of the asbestos contamination so we can get answers about what this means for local residents and, ultimately, reopen Mount Batten Beach safely.
That is why I’m launching a petition.
I want to show both Plymouth City Council and the Government the strength of feeling in our community and the urgent need to move as quickly as possible to secure the specialist expertise required. The sooner that work begins, the sooner we can get the answers people deserve and take the next steps towards reopening Mount Batten Beach safely.
If Mount Batten Beach matters to you, whether you swim, paddle board, sail, kayak or simply enjoy spending time on the beach, I’d be really grateful if you could add your name using the link below. I will be presenting the petition to Parliament when it returns in September.
