2,200 signatures in just 72 hours!
Three days ago, I launched my petition to send a message to Andy Burnham to reverse the decision to drag 13 parishes in the South Hams into 'Greater Plymouth' and push West Devon into a vast rural authority stretching across Devon.
To put that into perspective, more than 2,200 people have signed this petition in just 72 hours. That’s nearly double the combined total of people Plymouth City Council says attended its face-to-face Big Community Conversation events, where 489 people took part, and 824 completed its engagement forms.
Perhaps the biggest irony is that, just days after signing off this decision, the Secretary of State responsible was sacked and replaced by Angela Rayner. I will be calling on the Prime Minister to respond to this petition when Parliament returns in September.
