Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful Lammastide Service with the Farming Community Network at St Andrew’s Church in Buckland Monachorum.
It was a joy to do a reading and to spend time with so many familiar faces from our local farming community, including Rupert from Roborough Young Farmers.
The service was a wonderful opportunity to give thanks for the first fruits of the harvest and to reflect on the strength, resilience and dedication of those who support rural life. The Farming Community Network plays a vital role in that, offering practical and emotional support to farming families during challenging times, whether through mental health support, financial advice, or simply lending a listening ear.
It was a pleasure to attend alongside the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant and the Deputy Chair of Devon County Council, whose presence reflected the strength of support for our farming communities.
Thank you to Rev. Andy Bowden for leading the service, and to all who contributed so thoughtfully: local farmer Becky Buckland for bringing the bread, and Stephen Horner from Coombe Fisheries for the beautiful wheat sheaf.
