Very glad I was able to join the Plympton Branch The Royal British Legion, friends and supporters to mark VJ Day this evening. I’ve really enjoyed their beacon lighting events as we’ve marked the 80th Anniversary of D Day, VE Day and VJ Day over the last year or so.
Great to catch up with many familiar faces from Plympton and Plymstock, including the Plympton Stannator, Plympton Youth Ambassador and also Bill Hatherley who lit the beacon. Bill is an RAF veteran and remembers being in London on VJ Day as a small boy!
