Earlier this month, I had the honour of attending a moving service at Plymouth College to unveil a new memorial commemorating the 172 former pupils who gave their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts.
The ceremony, held in this 80th anniversary year of VE Day, was a powerful tribute. A huge thank you to the school community and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for helping ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.
It was especially poignant to stand alongside the mother of Major Jason Ward RM, the last Plymouth College pupil to fall in active service, and to hear from so many who carry the legacy of service forward.
