This week I visited Shallowford Farm as it celebrates its 50th anniversary and had the chance to meet Will Dracup, the Chair of Dartmoor National Park, and Kevin Bishop, the Chief Executive. It’s always inspiring to hear about the work happening across the park, and to see how Shallowford Farm, as part of the Dartmoor Farmers group, is making a real difference by supporting sustainable farming, education and the local community.
I was particularly interested in the “Farm to City” project, which gives children the chance to experience farm life and connect with nature. It was great to hear how local schools in South West Devon have been able to visit farms on Dartmoor - a really important opportunity to learn about where food comes from and the vital work that farmers do every day.
A big thank you to everyone at Dartmoor National Park and the local farmers and groups for the incredible work supporting communities, conservation, and young people - and for letting me see some of the cute piglets you have on site!
