Last week I had the privilege of meeting Ivybridge resident, Barbara Gardner MBE for a cup of tea at Endsleigh Garden Centre Ivybridge.
Barbara is one of two constituents of South West Devon who were honoured in the New Year Honours list so I invited her to tea to find out more!
Having founded and volunteered for the Animals Interfaith Alliance for 10 years and also served as Trustee for the RSPCA (England & Wales) for 10 years, she’s done lots to raise awareness of animal welfare amongst children and young people. It was inspiring to meet her and I hope her MBE investiture at Windsor Castle was amazing earlier this week!
Ps did you know that the founder of the RSPCA was William Wilberforce who was responsible for legislation to stop the slave trade over 200 years ago? He’s one of my political heroes…
