It was great to meet with Plympton Timebank South West last month.
Timebanking is a simple idea - for every hour you spend helping someone, you earn an hour back from your time bank. This set up allows for skills to be exchanged without any money changing hands.
The Plympton group which is based at The Rees Centre Family and Wellbeing Hub is aimed at reducing social isolation for older people so they bank their time by meeting each week for a coffee and a chat. They do a great deal to tackle loneliness in the community through social projects. Their current big project, producing an oral history of the Falklands War, peaked my interest having previously worked for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission!
