Earlier today at my Plymstock advice surgery, I had the privilege of meeting Steve Hooper - an extraordinary RAF veteran and Invictus Games Champion
After serving as an ambulance driver in Iraq and facing the challenges of PTSD, Steve’s story of resilience and recovery is nothing short of inspiring.
Drawing on that strength, Steve went on to captain Team UK at the 2025 Invictus Games in February, competing in a range of events including wheelchair rugby, snowboard slalom, and skeleton racing. It was incredibly moving to see the medals he earned, including two special gold medals awarded to those who embody the spirit of The Invictus Games.
We also had the chance to discuss some exciting plans to support the children of serving personnel and veterans in Plymouth and the surrounding areas so watch this space!
