I recently met with Damien, a constituent who is an advanced driving instructor from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), to discuss how we can do more to protect young drivers on our roads.
Young drivers remain one of the most vulnerable groups, being four times more likely to be killed or seriously injured than older drivers. One in five new drivers crash within their first year, and in 2023 younger drivers were involved in one in five serious collisions.
I will be raising this with Ministers to understand what more the Government is doing to address these risks and ensure young people are better supported to stay safe on our roads.
Thank you to Damien and RoSPA for their tireless work in this area and for taking the time to meet with me.
