I’ve been in touch with Stagecoach regarding concerns about the local bus services: the 2, 80, and 1 and 1A buses.
Number 2 Bus: Many of you reported delays or buses not showing up. Stagecoach have explained that this was due to more vehicles requiring maintenance, which led to some scheduled journeys being cancelled. They’ve confirmed that vehicle availability has now improved, and services should be more reliable going forward.
Number 1 Bus: Some constituents have raised concerns about limited capacity. Stagecoach have informed me that as travel patterns settled after the start of the academic year, capacity should now meet demand more effectively.
Number 80 Bus: There were reports of a packed bus recently. Stagecoach have confirmed that this was due to mechanical faults on the previous bus, which caused the next bus to be unusually full, not because of normal service scheduling.
While I’m pleased that Stagecoach have addressed these specific concerns, I am disappointed that I haven’t yet had a response to the concerns raised about the 1A bus or my overall concerns about level of service across South West Devon.
