Rebecca provides updates on unauthorised encampment in Plymstock

Tuesday evening update - Dean Cross Unauthorised Encampment

Following my earlier post regarding the unauthorised encampment at Dean Cross Park, I have now received a further update from Plymouth City Council.

The Council has confirmed that the land is owned by Plymouth City Council. As such, a 24-hour notice to quit has been issued, which will expire at 4:30pm on Wednesday, 30th July.

Should the group remain on site after this time, the Council will apply to the court for a possession order to begin formal removal proceedings.

I remain in close contact with senior Council officials and Plymstock Cricket Club and will continue to monitor developments closely. I will of course provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

Thursday Afternoon Update: Dean Cross unauthorised encampment

I wanted to share a further update I have received from Plymouth City Council on the unauthorised encampment at Dean Cross Park.

I have been advised that the group has remained on site beyond the expiry of the Council’s 24-hour notice to quit. As a result, the Council is now in the process of applying to court for a possession order to begin formal removal proceedings.

Council officers are continuing to work closely with the police and Safer Communities teams, who are monitoring the situation daily. I have also been told that while the police do not believe the group’s behaviour has yet met the threshold for enforcement, this could change if things escalate in the coming days.

Please do continue to report any incidents in a clear and factual way being sure to include the time, date, and details of those involved as this really helps those managing the situation. You can do this here: www.plymouth.gov.uk/report-anti-social-behaviour

The police are also encouraging residents not to engage directly with the group or use things like drones or phones to film, as this can increase tensions on site.

Thank you to everyone that has already reported this so far. I will keep you updated as soon as I hear more.

Friday evening update: Dean Cross unauthorised encampment

Thanks to continued reports from the community, police have now confirmed they will be using their powers under Section 60C of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act to move the group on from Dean Cross Park.

Officers have visited the site and issued notice requiring the group to leave as soon as possible and no later than 4:00pm on Saturday, 2nd August. If they haven’t left by then, police will take enforcement action.

Thank you to everyone who has reported concerns and for your continued patience throughout this process.
