This evening, I spoke directly with South West Water about the burst water main on the road between Staddiscombe and Down Thomas.
While I have been advised that road is currently open at the time of posting, this marks the third closure in just six days, with three additional closures on this same stretch, and three more in Down Thomas - nine closures in just ten months!
I’m also aware that Highways is to put together a full summary of these incidents. I will be working closely with Tony Carson for Bickleigh and Wembury and Julie Carson and Alison Nix for Brixton, Wembury and Sherford to push for a thorough investigation into the root cause and to secure a long-term solution.
These villages are quite isolated with no alternative routes in or out, so ensuring reliable infrastructure is vital for the safety and wellbeing of the community.
I will keep you updated as I continue to raise this issue on your behalf.
