The Terminally Ill Adult (End of Life) Bill has today failed to complete its passage in Parliament. As the current session ends next week ahead of the Kings Speech, it has run out of time.
Over the course of the debate, I was contacted by hundreds of my constituents on both sides of the argument. For many who supported a change in the law, this will be deeply disappointing, while others will feel reassured. Given the strength of feeling, I have set out my response to this news above.
