Another look behind the scenes at Plessey
It was great to welcome the Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Semiconductors, Ruth Jones MP, to Plessey Semiconductors Ltd in Plymouth.
I’ve visited Plessey a number of times now, and it’s always fascinating to see the work taking place on our doorstep. We had a really useful discussion with the team about their plans for the future, the opportunities for growth, and what Government can do to help the UK’s semiconductor sector continue to thrive.
Plymouth has some real hidden gems when it comes to high-tech manufacturing, and Plessey is certainly one of them. The micro LEDs they develop are less than a hair breadth in size and help power everything from smartphones to cars so it’s incredibly important to our economy both locally and nationally. It’s one of the many businesses across South West Devon I’m proud to champion, both locally and in Parliament.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to show us around!
