It is incredibly disappointing that the Government has chosen not to increase training places at the Peninsula Dental School.
The University of Plymouth has invested £5 million in a new dental education practice in the city centre. This facility is designed to give students hands-on training while treating patients who are struggling to access NHS dentistry.
Despite this significant investment and the urgent need across South West Devon, the government has refused to expand the number of training places locally. This leaves the South West under-served and makes it even harder for people to access NHS dental care.
We need more opportunities for students to train here, so that our local workforce can grow and our communities can get the care they desperately need. I will continue pressing the Government to improve dental support.
