It was great to join UK Hospitality and industry leaders to talk about the real challenges facing our hospitality and tourism sectors and how the upcoming Autumn Budget needs to prioritise these sectors so that they can thrive.
Whilst there was a rise of 18,000 hospitality jobs in the last year of the previous Conservative government, 69,000 jobs have been lost in the past year alone - making it clear that this vital sector urgently needs our backing. From Business Rates reform to fairer taxes, there are real opportunities to support jobs, boost growth, and revive our high streets.
Hospitality matters to our local economy, our communities, and to so many people’s livelihoods and I’ll keep doing all I can to champion it.
I’m also always happy to meet with small businesses so if any local hospitality businesses would be keen to meet, please do let me know!
