Today I raised the case of Cox and Co Salon, a small hair and beauty business in Plymstock, who have been in contact with me about the impact Government decisions are having on their business.
Instead of answering the question on business rate relief, the Minister’s response showed a worrying lack of understanding of the real pressures facing businesses across South West Devon, who need support now.
The hair and beauty sector is a vital part of our high streets, yet business rates remain one of the largest fixed costs these businesses face. Local salons don’t need lectures about overseas trade deals. They need fair, practical support here at home to help them stay open, keep people in work and continue serving their communities.
