My first question to Andy Burnham.
The Government’s plans for local government reorganisation in Devon have caused real concern across the South Hams and West Devon, so I took those concerns directly to the Prime Minister on his first day facing questions today.
I was pleased to hear him say he is willing to look at the plans again, a far cry from his predecessor. However, we now wait to see what he will actually do and whether his commitment to putting power in local people’s hands extends to communities across rural Devon.
That is why tomorrow I will present my petition to Parliament, signed by more than 4,200 of you calling on Andy Burnham to reverse the Government's decision. I will keep up the pressure and make sure the voices of those living in the South Hams and West Devon are not treated as an afterthought.
