Did you know that 42 Commando Royal Marines is based in South West Devon?
With their base in Bickleigh, they are a key inhabitant of the constituency. I am incredibly grateful to their Commanding Officer and his team for organising such an informative and interactive visit for me with both 42 Commando and 47 Commando, who work out of HMMB Devonport.
42 Commando are the Royal Marines Maritime Operations Commando with an international role to play in maritime security. 47 Commando play a lead role in amphibious warfare and Royal Navy boarding. You can find out more here:

Thank you to all the Royal Marines I met and who shared their skills and experience with me – whether snipers, boarding hostile ships from the water, intelligence gathering, or medics to name a few. An action-packed day, I feel so much more equipped to speak about our Armed Forces in Parliament and am looking forward to supporting the units over the coming years.
