Another hidden gem in South West Devon!
It was a real pleasure to visit the community at Flete House at the Flete Estate yesterday, which sits on the most eastern point of South West Devon. In recent months, residents have been raising issues relating to tenancies and leaseholds so I appreciated the opportunity to discuss these issues and wider concerns. The house was converted into apartments in the 1970s but retains some spectacular communal spaces too.
Whilst I was there, I also had the chance to look around parts of this beautiful building with centuries of history. The current manor dates back to the 16th century, when Sir Charles Hele began rebuilding the estate, and over the years it has welcomed many distinguished visitors, including The Queen Mother!
If you’ve never visited before, this Sunday (26th July) is the perfect opportunity. Flete House is opening its beautiful gardens in support of St Luke's Hospice Plymouth. Tickets are just £6, and there’ll be refreshments, a raffle and, of course, the chance to explore these stunning gardens! Do pop along if you’re free!!
