Great to welcome John Pope from Harford to Westminster this week.
John joined me for a really useful drop-in with the team from GWR and Network Rail where we discussed timetabling at Ivybridge and the proposals for a Plymouth Metro with GWR’s CEO, before heading out for an iconic photo on the Terrace.
I’ve been working with John and his colleagues, through the PL21 Transition Group and the Ivybridge Rail User Group alongside Network Rail and South Hams District Council to make the case for a longer platform at Ivybridge station. At the moment, CrossCountry trains can’t stop there, so this would make a real difference to local services.
Our meeting with Network Rail prompted a nudge and we’ve now had confirmation that South Hams District Council have finalised the funding for a feasibility study into extending the platform. A brilliant step forward!
A big thank you to John for joining me and for all the work you’re doing locally.
