A victory for common sense
I was really pleased to hear that, last week, Plymouth City Council confirmed it would abandon its plans to introduce parking charges at Jennycliff and Mount Batten.
From the moment these proposals were announced, local Conservatives campaigned against them. We launched a survey to hear directly from residents, and hundreds of people told us these charges would put people off visiting our beautiful waterfront, make life harder for families and risk harming local businesses.
I’m delighted the Council has now changed course. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our survey and share your views. I’m pleased those concerns have been heard.
Whilst this is very welcome news, there are still other parking proposals under consideration, including charges for Blue Badge parking on the Hoe Promenade. I’ll continue to keep a close eye on those plans and stand up for residents.
